URIEL MARIN (Mexico) b.1981
Uriel Marin hails from the Oaxaca region of Mexico which is internationally renowned for the talent it nurtures in traditional arts. One of the key artists of a new generation of master printmakers, Marin’s work holds an exquisite depth of detail and movement that is almost unheard of in by-hand woodcut printmaking.
Greatly influenced by traditional Japanese techniques, Marin has visited Japan three times to develop his craft by invitation of the prestigious Osaka University of the Arts as their artist in residence. He has received honours from both national and state Ministries of Culture in Mexico, and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Mexico, the UK, Japan, South Africa, Germany, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Marin currently lives and works in the US and travels regularly to his studio in Oaxaca.
