GUSTAVO ORTIZ
GUSTAVO ORTIZ (Argentina) b.1975
Classically trained in art, philosophy and art history, Ortiz brings this background to his charming and unique work which is largely inspired by the myths, legends, and warm textile colours of his native Argentina. Like his chosen medium his work is a collage of influences.
Executed in intricate detail and usually in a square format, evoking ancient icon painting, Ortiz’s style and narrative is often playful, seeking to preserve elements of ancient culture while also proliferating new interpretations of the stories, characters, and human emotions that they convey.
Ortiz has enjoyed sellout exhibitions in London, Paris and New York, and was selected by renowned art historian Tristan Manco to feature in his recent Thames and Hudson publication ‘Make Your Mark’ and be the cover artist. Ortiz lives and works in London.
Please note as Ortiz’s pieces move very quickly we only display examples of his work here on our website and these may already be sold. Please contact us for a PDF of his current availability. Thank you.
